Our private fleet offers charters, cruises, fishing trips and even kid-friendly tours that get the whole family involved.
Boating is available from May through October. Space is limited and many of these experiences sell out quickly, so make sure to reserve as far in advance as possible by calling 508.945.6871.
If you need to change or cancel your reservation, we do require notice 24 hours in advance. Please note all boating excursions are subject to change.

We’ll whisk you away to Nantucket Island in just over an hour. Walk the charming cobblestone streets, visit quaint shops and galleries, and dine at one of grey lady’s many seaside restaurants.
Martha’s Vineyard Cruise
The natural beauty of Martha’s Vineyard’s pristine beaches, clay cliffs, historical and cultural attractions, exquisite dining and one-of-a-kind boutiques provide for a perfect day trip.
Experience the beauty and calm waters of Chatham Harbor. Sit back and sip bubbly aboard Shooting Star, our 38’ Shelter Island Runabout as we explore the bay including Strong Island, Eastward Ho, and The North Cut. Champagne and soft drinks provided. Additional snacks and beverages available.
Sit back and reflect on the day’s events while taking an early evening cruise along the picturesque Chatham coastline.
Chatham Harbor is home to hundreds of gray & harbor seals. This tour is an opportunity to see them up close and learn about their eating and migratory habits. You may see them on the sandbars at low tide basking in the sun or frolicking in the water at high tide. This cruise also includes passing the Chatham Lighthouse and the Municipal Fish Pier.
Experience the daily routine of a lobsterman as you participate in the excitement of hauling, emptying and baiting the traps on LobStar. Our knowledgeable captains will create a memorable lobstering experience and gladly clean your catch and deliver it to the resort's kitchen for our chefs to prepare for a nominal fee.
We will fish the rips and waters surrounding Chatham in search of striped bass, bluefish, bonito, and false albacore. StarStruck is fully equipped with top-of-the-line electronics and the finest fishing tackle will be provided. Our knowledgeable captains will create a memorable fishing experience and gladly clean your catch and deliver it to the resort's kitchen for our chefs to prepare for a nominal fee. Fishing trips are available for 3 or 5 hours.
Enjoy a sail on a beautiful day or a relaxing evening sail while the sun sets to the west. The sweeping vistas of Chatham’s coastline, historical landmarks like the Chatham Lighthouse and North Beach Island provide the perfect backdrop for your sail. Daily 1-hour sailing trips are available at 11am, 1pm and 3pm. One-hour evening sails are daily at 5pm. Private sailing instruction is available upon request.

While many destinations on Cape Cod offer whale and shark tours, the exclusive tours at Chatham Bars Inn offer guests unrivaled close-up access to these incredible creatures. They’re not to be missed by those who want the absolute best whale or shark watching on the Cape.
We offer three distinct tours:
Imagine being up close and personal with a 50-foot, 66,000-pound humpback whale as it works with its pod to hunt mackerel and herring in the deep blue waters of the Atlantic. That’s likely what you’ll see when you book your whale watching tour with Chatham Bars Inn.
You will set out on the Shooting Star, our 38-foot Shelter Island Runabout originally designed by Billy Joel. Our captains will take you to the waters east of Chatham, where whales gather to feed and raise their young. You will witness these majestic creatures breaching, diving and bubble-feeding in their natural environment. Primarily, our tours spot humpback whales, though it’s not uncommon for guests to also see pilot whales, minke whales, whale sharks and giant mola mola as well.
Cost: $1,400 for up to 6 passengers.
Availability: Usually from May to October when the whales migrate to the waters near Chatham.

This is truly a once-in-a -lifetime experience! Take a front row seat on board one of our vessels with a member of the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy. Observe the natural behavior of these amazing apex predators. Learn from the experts, photograph the action and become part of the elite group of adventurers to observe a great white shark in the Atlantic Ocean. A portion of the trip proceeds are donated to the Conservancy to directly benefit white shark research, education and conservation efforts.
Cost: $2,500 for up to 5 passengers in a private charter (2,5 hours).

Spend your morning like a scientist with our exclusive shark beacon cruise!
You’ll depart on the Bar Tender, our 29-foot custom launch, for a tour of the shark beacons in Chatham Harbor. Pulling data from the beacons, volunteer scientists from the Atlantic White Shark Conservancy will educate you on the sharks, fish and wildlife in the waters below. Proceeds will be donated to the Conservancy to fund their research and conservation efforts.

The traditional beauty of the 38’ Shelter Island Runabout and her incredible performance can quickly whisk you away to Nantucket, Martha’s Vineyard or to some of the most spectacular whale watching spots in New England. Cruise in speed, comfort and style.

This is the ultimate sport fishing machine. StarStruck will take up to six guests to the fishing grounds comfortably, safely, and quickly. The waters off of Chatham boast some of the finest striper and tuna fishing on the east coast and, whether you prefer offshore big game or inshore light tackle fishing, StarStruck’s state-of-the-art equipment and experienced captains will help you land “the big one”!

Trimmed inside and out with satin-varnished mahogany and teak decking, the Tadornes are attractive boats that are fast under sail. Her cockpit is wide and spacious making Stars & Stripes ideal for a classic sailing excursion, a family sailing lesson or a relaxing sail.

Built in Chatham and trimmed with teak decks and beautifully varnished mahogany, BarTender has a remarkably shallow draft that affords easy access to the beach and remote areas of Pleasant Bay.
Complimentary Shuttle Service: Daily to North Beach Island is available exclusively to guests of Chatham Bars Inn. In addition to a variety of scheduled cruises, Bar Tender may also be reserved for private charters and cocktail cruises for parties of up to 18 passengers.

Are the tours family friendly?
Yes! Kids and adults alike are sure to have a great time on any of our boating excursions.
Can I book boating for my wedding party, bachelor/bachelorette party or other occasion?
Absolutely! These tours are a great way to make memories and bond with those close to you.
How far in advance should I reserve my boating?
We recommend reserving as far in advance as possible. Boating excursions fill up quickly and are limited to small private groups. We are now accepting reservations for the entire 2021 boating season. Call 508.945.6871 to book.
What kinds of wildlife will I see?
On any trip out on the water, you will see all kinds of animals in their natural habitat including grey and harbor seals who are often found basking on sandbars or frolicking in the water depending on the tide.
Our whale watching tour guests primarily spot humpback whales, but often see pilot whales, minke whales, whale sharks and giant mola mola as well.
Shark expeditions mostly focus on great white sharks, but you might luck out and see thresher and mako sharks as well.
What should I bring?
Prepare to bring several items with you to make your trip a successful one. We recommend bringing sunscreen, polarized sunglasses, a hat and a camera as well as an extra sweater or windbreaker as it's cooler on the water than on land.
