Chef Michael Scelfo

Michael’s passion for the culinary arts was born in family kitchens, where he absorbed all he could about his heritage through food and cooking.

He was always enamored with the energy and bustle in those kitchens as everyone lent hands to make even the most modest of weekend lunches feel like memorable feasts. His first cooking jobs were all centered around pizza and his deep love for the dish has only grown throughout the years. Michael, known for his American and Italian fare, owns internationally acclaimed restaurants Alden & Harlow, Waypoint and the Longfellow Bar, where he has extended the concept of the domestic kitchen table.

Condé Nast Traveler named Alden & Harlow one of the “Best Restaurants in the World” and in 2017, Food & Wine magazine named Waypoint one of their “Best New Restaurants.” Additionally, Alden & Harlow has been featured in Bon Appetit magazine as one of the 50 nominees for “America's Best New Restaurants.” Michael has been nominated for James Beard Awards multiple times, and Alden & Harlow was also nominated for Best New Restaurant in America by the James Beard Foundation. Boston Magazine has also recognized Michael & his restaurants multiple times, including best in the city in for both restaurants and personally in his chef roles.
