Winter of the Arts – Weekly Activities

Make the most of winter as we bring the arts to Chatham Bars Inn! From painting and drawing to flower arranging and musical performances, activities are open to the public as well as guests of the Inn including the Saturday Kids Crew.

Winter of the Arts programs will take place January 20, 2021 through March 21, 2021 with the exception of February 17 - 20. Please note: Activities are subject to change and will follow all State of Massachusetts Covid-19 guidelines. Payment information for Winter of Art events will be obtained at the point of reservation and charged the day of the event. Cancelations 7 days prior to the event will not be charged. All other cancelations will result in full payment charges.

Wednesdays: Floral Arranging

Join Chatham Bars Inn’s Fine Gardener Pam Vasques for a different floral arrangement design each week. Please register in advance through concierge at 508.945.6871 or . (Ages 18+ are welcome to join the classes.)
Also, all participants of the Floral Arranging class will save 15% on dinner at our Sacred Cod Tavern after the class. Make a night of it!

Fridays: Creative Artistry

Explore creative artistry in four different areas with these hands-on classes led by experts in each field. All instruction and materials are included. Please register in advance through concierge at 508.945.6871 or . (Ages 18+ are welcome to join the classes.)

Silk Scarf-Dyeing Workshop – January 29th

Bring out your creative side as you create a one-of-a-kind silk scarf. Working with colored tissue paper, this technique is simple, quick and fun.

Introduction to Drawing- February 12th, 26th & March 12th

This class is designed for the beginning drawer who appreciates art and has always wanted to learn to draw as well as for those interested in a refresher course. Instruction will cover the fundamentals of free-hand drawing: line, perspective, composition, understanding light, and form.

Acrylic Painting – January 22nd, February 5th, March 5th, and March 19th

Paint with acrylics in a guided step-by-step “paint along” and you’ll leave the class with new skills and a finished painting.

Saturdays: “Meet the Artist” Art Series

Our beloved annual Art Series has taken on a new twist, still focusing on talented local artists and galleries but now arranged in reserved 30-minute sessions in keeping with these socially distanced times. During each 30-minute session, attendees will be welcome to view the art on display and speak with the artists and gallery owners to gain further insight into the paintings or works of art. Each session will host 20 attendees and all sessions are complimentary and open to the public. Advance registration is required by contacting the concierge at 508.945.6871 or

Drop off the kids for a fun morning of supervised activities themed to the arts featuring painting pottery, bracelet-making and more. (Maximum of 10 children per session.) Please register in advance through concierge at 508.945.6871 or

Coming Soon – Musical Performances

Ticketed performances featuring members of the Cape Cod Symphony as well as complimentary piano performances are in the works but currently on hold pending changes in the State of Massachusetts COVID-19 guidelines regarding indoor musical performances. Check back for details!

Optional field trip for Guests of the Inn - McDermott Studio

Time: 10am-1pm (Wed, Thur, Fri Only)
Location: McDermott Glass studio – off property
Price: $400 for first 4 ppl and the $75 each additional person up to total of 10 persons.

Description: Includes transportation to and from the hotel to the glass shop. Guests will be treated to an educational demonstration by professional Glass blowers and a tour of the workshop. Please note: The class is one hour and the studio is approximately a 50-minute drive from the Inn.
