May 27, 2020

Friends of Chatham Bars Inn,

To all our long-time repeat guests and those of you joining us for the first time, we are so happy to be opening our doors on June 8th to begin our 106th summer season here at Chatham Bars Inn. Before we share with you some of what has been happening here at the Inn for the last 2 months, we want to first assure you that we have a comprehensive Wellbeing Plan firmly in place which is at the center of our staff training. All steps are being taken to ensure the health and safety of our guests and staff.

We have been busy preparing for your arrival with projects completed both inside the Inn and outside throughout our 25 acres. We appreciate more than ever our spacious grounds, quarter-mile private beach and natural surroundings. When you arrive at Chatham Bars Inn, take a moment to look around at all the beautiful flowers, trees and quiet sitting areas created by our Grounds Team. Color and scents abound throughout the property. Explore the beach, take a bike ride, dine on the Veranda, enjoy a day at the Spa, take a swim in our beachfront pool or take a trip on one of the boats in our private fleet.

Our new pool cabanas are installed and ready for you to enjoy, the beach has been groomed and refreshed, the boats are in the water with fishing, whale watching, seal tours and more, and the tennis courts are open. We are pleased to welcome back Tennis Pro Rob Parker who will be a familiar face to many. The Kid’s Crew opens for fun later this month with new safety protocols in place. As in year’s past, family activities on our South Lawn, beach and pool will be offered throughout the summer. There is much to do and see and we cannot wait to share our resort experience with you.

Our Chatham Bars Inn Farm continues to produce a wide variety of vegetables, herbs, edible flowers and honey, all creatively infused into our menus by our talented culinary team. The Farm Stand is open and selling seasonal fresh produce, flowers, breads and sweets from our Pastry Shop, and Chatham Bars Inn vinegars and honey. In our restaurants, we have redesigned seating arrangements to allow for more open space between tables and social distancing, all for the welfare of our guests and staff. Whether you join us for breakfast in STARS, lunch or dinner on the Veranda, a clambake at the Beach House Grill, or light fare at the Bayview Restaurant and Sacred Cod – there is something for everyone to enjoy. All dining experiences will be a la carte table service. If you are interested in a private dining experience, our Food & Beverage Team will set up a table for 2 or your entire family on your own patio or near your cottage on the lawn area. In July and August, we will host our popular farm-to-table dinners at the Farm.

When you are ready to relax and feel restored, our Spa is the place to be, offering more outdoor seating and services, new treatments and products to enhance and provide comfort. The Spa will follow all International Spa Association guidelines for providing a wonderful experience. The new Spa menu includes the Skinceuticals skincare product line and Inika Organic make-up. The locker rooms and relaxation room have been re-designed and refreshed with new furnishings. Treat yourself to a well-deserved day at the Spa.
At the Main Inn building and cottages, we have also been busy painting, redecorating, and refreshing guest rooms and common areas. Our housekeeping team has cleaned and sanitized all areas of the resort from top to bottom including guest rooms, public areas, restaurants, the waterfront and pool area and the Spa. This practice will continue during your stay.

My managers and entire team join me in enthusiastically welcoming you back to “Cape Cod’s Most Beautiful Address”.

Sincerely,

Gary S. Thulander

Dear Friends of Chatham Bars Inn,

In our ongoing effort to keep you apprised of developments at the Inn during these ever-changing times, I wanted to share with you some updates. Each change was made after careful thought on how best to keep our guests, staff and community healthy and safe, following expert advice and guidelines from Federal, State and Local leaders as well as the CDC and WHO.

The Inn paused operations on March 22nd and will remain closed through the end of April, with a scheduled reopening on Friday, May 1st. This was the most difficult decision to make as we love hosting our guests and providing our staff with meaningful work on a year-round basis, yet our first responsibility is to support the health and well-being of our team and each of you, our valued guests. Our dedicated reservations team is working remotely and graciously managing adjustments to reservations while accepting new bookings for late spring, summer and all future dates. We are encouraged by your calls which have continued during this challenging time for our hospitality industry and indeed for the world at large. We join you in looking ahead to summer days surrounded by Cape Cod’s natural beauty.

This temporary pause in hotel operations will also include our restaurants, spa, fitness center, boating and tennis programs as well as our Easter Brunch, April Literary Weekend, Cooking Classes, Mixology Classes, Art Series and April School Vacation activities.

On a brighter note, we are currently working with our team on a plan to engage with you all via virtual activities and videos through our social channels in the coming weeks. Not to mention, the growing season has begun at our Chatham Bars Inn Farm! The greenhouse is in full operation to prepare for the summer season. Our own grounds here at the resort are in early bloom and we expect an arrival of 20,000+ plants in early April.

Chatham Bars Inn has welcomed guests since 1914. Our mission remains the same as it was over 100 years ago – to open our doors again and be that special gathering place for families, weddings, dining, beach, boating and spa experiences – all those experiences that have sustained our hearts over the years.

In closing, my team joins me in sending you our very best. These times are particularly difficult for so many individuals and industries including travel and hospitality. As we weather these uncertain times together, we thank you for your patience and understanding and look forward to welcoming you back soon to create more memories with the special people in your lives. We miss you. Please take care of yourselves, stay in touch and be well.

Warm Regards,

Gary S. Thulander

Friends of Chatham Bars Inn,

We care about you! The safety, health and well being of each of you as well as our staff and local community are top of mind always but especially in light of the challenges created by the corona virus.

I feel it’s important to stay in touch with you during this time to share our plans. With all CDC and WHO health recommendations in place, the Inn will remain open to registered guests. We have made certain modifications to our hotel operations designed to follow the guidelines set by Governor Baker and other state, federal and local officials.

The Sacred Cod Tavern and STARS restaurant will be closed but In-Room Dining will be available in a modified capacity to guests of the Inn. And a “CBI Curbside” meal takeout service has been created. Our winter programming including cooking class, mixology class, Friday Night Art Series, Girls’ Weekend as well as our Spa and Fitness Center will be suspended. As changes are occurring rapidly, we have set these modifications in place March 17 through April 7, 2020 while keeping a close eye on any future guidelines.

While many things have changed, some things remain the same. We are extremely fortunate to have a location that offers fresh air and spectacular views. Our private beach and the local walking and biking trails invite guests to spend time surrounded by the nature, beauty and peace of Cape Cod. And most importantly, our ongoing commitment to providing exceptional, gracious service to each and every one of you remains our ultimate goal.

We join you in looking ahead to positive changes, thank you for your continued confidence and sunny outlook on the upcoming summer season and look forward to welcoming you back to the Inn. We will keep you updated moving forward. Stay safe and be well.

Warm Regards,

Gary S. Thulander

Friends of Chatham Bars Inn,

I wanted to reach out to you personally on the topic of the COVID-19 coronavirus. As an independently owned hotel, maintaining the health and safety of those staying with us is our top priority and a daily focus of our managers and employees. We continue to uphold the highest standards of cleanliness in our guestrooms and public areas. As a precautionary measure, we have significantly increased the rigor of all cleaning procedures, including best practices provided from global health authorities to promote proper disinfecting protocols, frequent handwashing, and healthy practices.

Cape Cod and Chatham Bars Inn remain open and welcoming-- where the sun is shining and the fresh sea air is circulating. If you unfortunately had to cancel your plans abroad or are hesitant to get on a plane--we are an accessible drive from many locations.

Given the current situation, we are monitoring COVID-19 with the relevant health and government authorities including the Centers for Disease Control Prevention, the World Health Organization, and local health departments to appropriately follow directives as new information is shared.
Please note no CDC Travel Advisories have been placed on domestic travel at this time.

At all times, our top priority is to stay on course and provide our guests with the top-notch service they are accustomed to. We are committed to providing you with all the information you need and we hope to see you soon at Chatham Bars Inn.

Warm Regards,
