Chatham Bars Inn is currently spearheading efforts to conserve on many fronts.
Year to date Chatham Bars Inn has recycled: 320 tons of cardboard & 40 tons of glass, plastic & paper!
- Replacement of incandescent lights with compact fluorescent
- Recycling of newspaper, glass, metal, paper, plastic and cardboard
- Replacement of shower heads to reduce water usage
- Installation of occupancy sensors in common areas
- Upgrade HVAC system to increase efficiency and save on energy usage
- Purchasing department focused on procurement of “green” products
- Notes placed in guest rooms to reuse towels and linens
- Use of “Energy Star” rated appliances and equipment
- Installed low flow toilets and aerators in sinks to reduce water usage
- Switched to "green chemicals" in housekeeping, food & beverage and maintenance
- Each employee office has recycle bin for paper products
- Housekeeping using plastic reusable trash liners
- Recycled paper being purchased for copier use
- Electric golf cart for bellman to use for deliveries on property
- Set up maintenance program to replace filters in HVAC units to run more efficiently
- Upgraded condensers in 13 AC units for higher efficiency
- Replaced styrofoam take out containers with recyclable plastic containers
