Our "Classic Clay" tennis courts are a state-of-the-art composition that combines the play and feel of clay with the convenience of a hard court. The oceanside courts include a relaxing patio area and convenient Pro Shop with the latest styles in tennis apparel. Clinics and lessons help you improve your game.

Cape Cod is one of New England's premier golf destinations, and Chatham Bars Inn is located near many of the best 18-hole courses in the area.  For a more leisurely round of golf, perfect for families and golfers of all ages, try the Chatham Seaside Links Golf Course located adjacent to Chatham Bars Inn.

Maintaining your fitness regimen is simple and convenient at Chatham Bars Inn. Located in the Main Inn, our fitness center is open 24 hours a day and features state of the art equipment such as:

Our regulation Croquet Court on the South Lawn has a laser flat surface similar to golf greens, providing a much different experience from "Backyard Croquet", the most widely known form of croquet. Our Croquet Court provides hours of fun and entertainment for couples, families and corporate groups! Court times, including instruction and equipment rental, are available through the Activities Department.

Chatham Bars Inn is pleased to offer its guests unparalleled access to the waters off Cape Cod. We can whisk you and your guests away to Martha’s Vineyard or Nantucket on Five Star, our flagship 55' Hinckley jet boat. Serious anglers can pursue big game fish on Star Fish, our luxurious and technologically advanced 52' Viking sport fishing yacht. Closer to shore, hotel guests can enjoy the waters in and around Pleasant Bay, whether its a sailing excursion on Wind Star, our Nantucket Indian wooden sailboat or learning how to catch your own lobster on Lob Star, our trusty open cabin power boat. The Bar Tender, our local custom-designed, 22-person capacity beach launch is used for excursions to view our native seals and scenic breakfast and twilight cruises. The Harbor Star is ideal for half-day cruises and charters for up to 6 people.

Complimentary Shuttle Service to Outer Beach

Departing from the hotel dock every 30 minutes, the Bar Tender provides a complimentary shuttle service to and from the Outer Beach on Cape Cod National Seashore, one of the most beautiful barrier beaches in the world. The beach is only accessible by boat and is never crowded except for seals that will occasionally swim up to the island. Complimentary shuttle available mid June through Labor Day.

The waters immediately surrounding Chatham are world renowned fishing grounds abundant with a wide variety of fish including everything from Striped Bass (Stripers) all the way up to Giant Bluefin Tuna.

We researched charter fishing programs on Cape Cod and found that existing third party operators did not meet the quality standards of Chatham Bars Inn. As a result, we decided to build the best charter fishing program in the entire Cape & Islands region. In addition to superior boats, we purchased the most modern fishing equipment available and our team of experienced captains is committed to making your fishing experience as enjoyable and productive as possible. Whether you are an experienced angler or a beginner we will custom tailor the trip to fit your needs.

Star Fish, our state-of-the-art 52' Viking sport fishing boat can accommodate up to six people. A recording system films your day at sea capturing the moment you reel in the big one. Your fresh catch of the day can even be prepared by the hotel chef for that evening's dinner.

Lob Star will whisk children and adults away on a lobstering cruise where they can learn to bait and band the crustaceans! On this fascinating journey, learn how lobster traps work, how they're hauled and baited. You'll also get a lesson in marine biology, as you encounter rock crabs, spider crabs, green crabs, starfish, seaweed, and more. To put the perfect finishing touch on your Lob Star experience, our chef will prepare your lobsters for you in the resort's restaurant. This boat holds a maximum of 6 guests.

Our quarter-mile of private beach is unmatched on Cape Cod, the perfect spot to enjoy the waters of the Atlantic Ocean and stunning coastal scenery. Complimentary chairs, umbrellas, cabanas and chaise lounges are available on the beach.

Outer Beach on Cape Cod National Seashore

Accessible only by boat, and protected and preserved by the federal government, the Cape Cod National Seashore is an unspoiled treasure. Take a complimentary ferry ride across the harbor on Bar Tender which departs from the hotel dock every 30 minutes. Often, harbor seals surround the boat as it approaches the beach. Our staff will pack you a gourmet picnic lunch that you can enjoy during your afternoon playing in the waves or exploring the beach. Without a doubt this is the best beach experience anywhere along Cape Cod's vast coastline.

The Bar Tender boat is complimentary to hotel guests and runs daily weather permitting from mid June to Labor Day.

Enjoy a scenic interpretive tour through the dunes of Nauset Beach in one of our Land Rovers driven by an experienced guide. This unique conservation and recreation area has miles of unspoiled beach and trails along the outer shoreline and interior dunes. Piping plovers, a threatened species protected under the Endangered Species Act, and terns are plentiful in this area as are the sights of grey and harbor seals swimming along the coast. Stop for a swim or try body surfing the crashing waves of the Atlantic.

Excursions are limited to 4 people and are offered Mondays – Thursdays from July 1- Labor Day. Tours depart Chatham Bars Inn at 9:00am and return at 12:00 noon. Take a seat in our vintage 1929 Ford Model A Woody for a historic tour of Chatham. Your tour includes Chatham Light, the break-through, Monomoy Wildlife Refuge, fishing pier, gristmill, old Railroad Station, drawbridge and some of the most beautiful private residences in town. And as you take in the sights, Chatham residents will be looking at you! Seasonal - Memorial Day to Columbus Day

Rent a bike and go exploring through the back roads of Chatham, or on the Cape Cod Rail Trail.   Accessible less than a mile from the Inn, the Rail Trail covers over 35 miles through the towns of Chatham, Harwich, Brewster, Orleans and Eastham, and offers scenic views of Cape Cod's salt marshes, woodlands, and cranberry bogs.

Our in-house naturalist will guide your group on a walk through the Monomoy National Wildlife Refuge on Morris Island. The Refuge's 40-acres of varied habitats including oceans, salt and freshwater marshes, and dunes and freshwater ponds that support an amazing diversity of wildlife and plant species. Piping plover, roseate tern, osprey, horseshoe crabs and gray seals call the refuge home.

The eastern-most stretch of Outer Beach on the Cape Cod National Seashore is where the Gulf Stream meets the Gulf of Maine in a swirl of ocean currents. This informative walk led by our naturalist focuses on the function and importance of barrier beaches, cyclical breaches and the wildlife that inhabit the area.
